A magnet dropped through a copper tube with interesting results.
Dropping a magnet through the tube, the changing magnetic field induces a current to flow around the tube. According to Lenz's law, the direction of the induced current will be such that it will oppose the changing magnetic flux.
What this means is that when the magnet is falling through, it induces a repelling magnetic field below and and attracting field above (regardless of how it's oriented). these both act to retard it's decent.
